Storytellers
keeping the oral tradition of story alive

Storytellers keep the oral tradition of story sharing alive, bringing present the most ancient form of communication and ritual. Storytellers protect endangered cultural and linguistic traditions for all generations, keeping them from becoming extinct. Humble, God-touched, poet-warriors, storytellers defend and cherish the tales and myths of our ancestors, connecting us to the soul-roots of who we are. Tellers help us know and remember the tragic, comic, beautiful and necessary so that we can grow forward in joy and make fewer mistakes born from ignorance. Brave, dramatic, creative and wonderful, storytellers bridge the wide roads between rural and urban, elder and young, man and woman, human and animal - re-minding us that we are all connected and have value. Laying bare their vulnerability, pain, triumphs and solace, storytellers are the shamans of today. When we hear them, we are changed. Our children are changed. I celebrate these storytellers who have brought limitless joy to our home - they are spirit in time.
