The Season of Light revolves around the Winter Solstice on or around December 22nd. The darkest, longest evening of the year inspires people worldwide to call forth the light which brightens both hearts and homes. Mythologized and ritualized by every religion and people, the Season of Light bears many names and customs but all share the love and hope of family and the miracle of rebirth.
The Season of Light is a time of mystery, magic and dreams when everything is possible. Children and adults bask in the glory and joy of infinite possibility felt during this wondrous time of year. Beauty abounds in the greens, reds, yellows and golds - colors of everlasting light and life - and gifts are abundantly shared, both material and spiritual, as humanity opens our souls to one another. Delicious, comforting smells fill the air through gingerbread homes, sugar cookie cut-outs, mugs of hot cocoa, cinnamon sticks and evergreen branches - each adding to the store of memories in motion that become part of who we are. An exciting, emotional time, the Season of Light is lovingly shared by authors and illustrators worldwide who wish to give the gift of wonder to our children. Treasured holiday picture books become sweet additions to family traditions that will be remembered and passed down through generations to come. Experienced through all the senses, the Season of Light is a cozy time of memories, closeness and beginnings. Happy holidays to you and yours this most precious time of year.
