Since my daughter was a toddler we have enjoyed the pleasures of family night walks. During cold and warm evenings alike, we scan the treetops watching for bats making their lightning speed darts and dashes in the sky. Hearing the squeaks they emit brings magical joy. Valued mosquito hunters and nocturnal pollinators, these brave and tiny warriors have given story tellers enchanting ideas for creating myths and folktales for thousands of years. Bats also give readers endless reasons to explore the enticing, primordial mysteries of night.
